Privacy Policy

Applies to Bar Switch: Bookmark Bar Profiles and Image Translator. Last updated 4 August 2026.

Both extensions are built to do their job entirely on your own device. We, the developer, operate no server that receives your data, run no analytics, use no advertising or tracking, and never sell or share any information about you.

What the extensions store

• Bar Switch stores your bookmark-bar profiles as ordinary Chrome bookmark folders under [Bar Switch profiles] in your own bookmarks, and remembers which profile is active in your browser's local storage. This data lives in your browser and syncs through your own Chrome account like any other bookmark. It is never transmitted to us.
• Image Translator reads text from an image you right-click and translates it using Chrome's built-in, on-device AI. The image and its text are processed locally and are never uploaded anywhere. Your language preference and daily free-usage count are stored locally in your browser.

The only network request either extension makes

If, and only if, you choose to purchase Pro, the extension sends your license key to our payment provider, Polar (polar.sh), at api.polar.sh to verify that the key is valid. No other data accompanies this request, and no request is made unless you activate a Pro license. Purchases themselves are handled entirely by Polar as merchant of record; see Polar's privacy policy for how your payment details are processed. We never see or store your payment information.

Data we collect

None. We do not collect, receive, or have access to your bookmarks, browsing history, the images or text you translate, personally identifiable information, or any usage data.

Permissions

• Bookmarks (Bar Switch): to move bookmarks between your bar and your profile folders. This is the core function.
• Storage: to remember your active profile and preferences and your license key, locally.
• Host access to api.polar.sh: solely to verify a Pro license key.
• activeTab and one-time host access to a single image's origin (Image Translator): granted only at the moment you translate an image, to read that one image. Nothing is granted at install.

Children

These extensions are general-purpose tools and are not directed at children. They collect no personal information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "last updated" date.
